3 Dead in Fort Lauderdale Plane Crash
The parking lot where a small plane went down in Fort Lauderdale was lit up Friday night so authorities could investigate into the evening. Witnesses Rick Blackburn and Ebbey Davis Fort Lauderdale Police spokeswoman Detective DeAnna Garcia spoke about the crash that killed all three people aboard.
Plane Crash a Tragedy for Fort Lauderdale: Mayor
Fort Lauderdale Mayor Jack Seiler described Friday's deadly plane crash as a tragedy for the city. He extended his condolences to the families involved, and said the city is doing everything it can to address the situation. Seiler said Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport has a very good safety record, and said it's one of the busiest executive airports in the country.
Two people were rushed to a regional trauma center after a hot air balloon crashed in Homestead Saturday morning, Miami-Dade Police said.
It appears that the hot air balloon's passenger basket, which had three adults aboard, crashed into power lines while airborne, police said.
Police were sent to the scene at about 10:02 a.m.
The third passenger was not injured, police said.
Miami-Dade Police said they are working in a support role for the National Transportation Safety Board as authorities respond to the incident.
